SSS Arrest Senator Ali Ndume For Allegedly Sponsoring Boko Haram

 

Senator Ali Ndume (Borno State) has been arrested by the State Security Services (SSS) on suspicion of being a financier of the Boko Haram sect.

Ndume was indicted when an alleged spokesperson of the radical Islamic sect, also in SSS custody, Ali Konduga, reportedly named him as a major sponsor of the terrorist activities of the group. Security officials arrested the senator on Monday night.

NNEDI OKORAFOR WINS WORLD FANTASY AWARD

Nnedi Okorafor, author of Zahrah the Windseeker, published by Farafina Books, has won the World Fantasy Award for Best Fantasy Novel for her book, Who Fears Death. Winners in other categories include Joyce Carol Oates in Short Story, Elizabeth Hand in Novella, and John Joseph Adams in Anthology.
In his review of Who Fears Death, Paul Di Filippo says: “…Okorafor exhibits a sure hand with the supernatural, crafting a convincing system of magic and depicting its usage without bombast or silliness. One gets the sense of eavesdropping on timeless rites of cosmic import.”
The book has been optioned for a film by producer Kisha Cameron-Dingle, to be directed by award-winning director, Wanuri Kahiu.

Guardian Publisher Alex Ibru dies at 66

Chairman and Publisher of The Guardian newspaper, and former Minister of Internal Affairs, Mr. Alex Ibru, passed away today. He was 66.
Chairman, Publisher of The Guardian, Dr. Alexander Uruemu Ibru has passed on. He died at about 1.30p.m. on Sunday, November 20, in the course of an illness. He was 66. Burial arrangements will be announced soon by the family,” His Newspaper, The Guardian said in a statement.

Armed Robbers Invade Olabisi Onabanjo University

 
Armed robbers this morning invaded the Olabisi Onabanjo University in Ogun state, robbing several people and killing at least one person.

The robbers, who operated in two buses and a car, targeted Oceanic bank, other banks and businesses in the University premises. They operated for almost an hour and left several people injured before they left.

Oando Group Chairman, Wale Tinubu, Covers Forbes Africa

 
The 44year old MD and CEO of Oando Plc is the second man to grace the cover of Forbes Africa which was only launched last month.

His bio which I found online: 
Tinubu has a Bachelor's of Law Degree from the University of Liverpool, England and received his LLM from the London School of Economics where he specialised in International Finance and Shipping. He is also a member of the Nigerian Bar Association.
He is the Chairman of Gaslink Nigeria Ltd and Tilca Nigeria and also serves on the Board of Stallion Properties, Oando Plc - Sierra Leone, Togo, and Ghana, West African Refinery Company (WARCO) Sierra Leone, Ocean and Oil Services, and Econet Wireless Nigeria. He is also a member of the Institute of Directors.
